KORAN ANGELFISH

Captive Bred Koran Angelfish at the University of Florida

The Tropical Aquaculture Laboratory is proud to announce that we have successfully raised Koran angelfish, Pomacanthus semicirculatus, to the juvenile stage. With the help of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium these angelfish showed up in our larval rearing tanks and were quite resilient under captive conditions. We are tremendously excited about this achievement since angelfish, specifically the emperor angelfish, is a target species of the Rising Tide Conservation Initiative. We are hopeful that this success will be transferred to emperor angelfish later this year.
